CREATION CARE

The Earth is Our Common Home

Ecological Conversion:

“The urgent challenge to protect our common home includes a concern to bring the whole human family together to seek a sustainable and integral development.”

–Pope Francis, Laudato Si #13

Saint Andrew Creation Care Ministry

Saint Andrew Creation Care Ministry, rooted in faith, seeks to nurture in ourselves and in those around us an emotional and ethical connection with the earth, our common home.

The ministry started in 2020, and is inspired by Pope Francis’ encyclical, Laudato Si. The group meets regularly to plan events such as the “Season of Creation” awareness campaign, Earth Day activities, seminars, and service opportunities.

Laudato Si 2022 Lenten Calendar
— Caring for our Common Home —
This guide provides ways to see-judge-act according to scripture and our Catholic spiritual tradition. Lent is a time for conversion, for turning away from harmful habits and to turn toward God and each other through prayer, fasting, and generosity. Fast from pessimism and be filled with hope.

World Water Day, March 22, celebrates the gift of water and raises awareness of the 2.2 billion people living without access to safe fresh water. Pope Francis’ Laudato Si encyclical addresses the critical issues of fresh water. In his encyclical, the Pope demonstrated the great value and concern he places on water as a sacred and essential part of life. Our Saint Andrew Creation Care Ministry has created this online document to help raise awareness of the water crisis and provide specific actions that we, as members of Saint Andrew faith community, can do to help conserve fresh water.
